Boxing EvolutionAlternate provision & eotas support

For schools and other youth service organisations in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire

About the service

Boxing Evolution Alternative Provision provides specialist Alternative Provision and EOTAS support for children and young people across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. Based in Maidenhead, we support young people across the surrounding areas, including Windsor, Slough and High Wycombe, working predominantly with boys from Key Stage 2 through to Key Stage 4.

Our provision is designed for pupils who may be struggling to access mainstream education due to ADHD, SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, emotional dysregulation, school anxiety, persistent absence, suspension, exclusion or risk of placement breakdown.

We work with schools, local authorities, parents and other professionals to provide flexible, needs-led programmes that can form part of an existing education package or Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) arrangement.

Boxing Coaching And Mentoring Based Alternative Provision

Boxing Evolution combines boxing, fitness, mentoring and personal development to create a structured environment in which young people can build confidence, emotional regulation, self-discipline, resilience and personal responsibility.

Our programmes incorporate the A.B.A. Award Scheme alongside the Boxing Evolution B.E.A Warrior Programme, using sports coaching principles to help young people develop the skills required to engage more successfully with education, relationships and everyday life.

The B.E a warrIor program

The main aim of the B.E A Warrior program is to develop young people socially and emotionally with a strong emphasis on building and maintaining physical and mental health.  A core focus for this will be on building resilience and developing emotional intelligence with a warrior mindset.

What is resilience and why is it important?

There may be times or situations in our lives that are more difficult than others. The capacity to stay mentally well during those times is what we call ‘resilience’. Resilience is not simply a person’s ability to ‘bounce back’, but their capacity to adapt in the face of challenging circumstances, whilst maintaining a stable mental well being.

Resilience is something that can be taught and learned, and the elements that build resilience can be introduced into everyday life and is at the very core of maintaining mental and emotional health. It provides the very foundation that is needed in order to live a happy, fulfilled and successful life.

FUTURE CHAMPS

Services

BOXING, FITNESS AND NUTRITION

Sessions are primarily based around learning boxing, improving fitness and healthy eating. The boxing training is the predominant method used for self development and is based around the Boxing Evolution Junior methodology.

Mentoring

Mentoring is essentially about helping people to develop more effectively. It describes a relationship in which a more experienced person uses their knowledge and understanding to support the development of the less experienced person.

Re-Engagement with Education

Engagement with education involves applying a modern understanding around the different reasons that cause a young person to disengage from learning. Boxing Evolution also works with the school to help them deliver more effective strategies for managing young people.

Specialist ADHD and SEMH Support

We have particular experience supporting young people with ADHD and associated Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Provision is structured around the individual young person and can be used to support:

  • Reintegration into education
  • EOTAS packages
  • EHCP provision
  • Reduced or personalised timetables
  • Pupils at risk of exclusion
  • Young people currently unable to access school
  • Placement stabilisation
  • Re-engagement with learning
  • Emotional regulation and behaviour development
  • Confidence, resilience and self-belief
  • Preparation for adulthood and greater independence

Our relationship-based and trauma-informed approach combines clear expectations with consistent coaching, mentoring and positive adult leadership.

Flexible Alternative Provision and EOTAS Packages

Programmes can be delivered as short-term intervention, longer-term Alternative Provision or as part of a personalised EOTAS package, depending on the young person’s needs and education plan.

We can work alongside schools, SEN teams, local authorities, families and other professionals to create provision that complements existing education rather than operating in isolation.

Boxing Evolution Alternative Provision currently supports referrals across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, including young people with ADHD, SEMH needs and those requiring an alternative to conventional classroom-based education.

OUTCOMES

Boxing Evolution Alternative Provision is outcomes-focused, with programmes designed around the individual needs, starting point and education plan of each young person.

Our provision aims to support measurable progress in areas including emotional regulation and behaviour, engagement and attendance, confidence and self-belief, resilience, self-discipline, relationships with peers and adults, and readiness to re-engage with education or progress towards appropriate next steps.

For young people receiving support through an EOTAS package, EHCP or personalised education programme, we can work alongside parents, schools, local authorities and other professionals to ensure the provision contributes towards agreed educational and developmental outcomes.

Progress can be reviewed throughout the placement, allowing programmes to adapt as the young person’s needs and circumstances change.

SAFEGUARDING & EXPERIENCE

Boxing Evolution Alternative Provision is delivered by an experienced practitioner with over 20 years of combined experience across coaching and education, including work within mainstream schools, SEN settings, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and Alternative Provision.

This experience includes more than 15 years of boxing and sports coaching, alongside extensive work supporting young people presenting with ADHD, SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties, emotional dysregulation and disengagement from education.

Safeguarding is embedded throughout the provision and practice is aligned with the statutory guidance set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). Relevant safeguarding requirements are maintained, including Enhanced DBS clearance and current training in safeguarding, Prevent, trauma-informed practice and First Aid.

Our approach combines the safeguarding expectations of education settings with the structure, boundaries and positive relationships associated with high-quality sports coaching.
